About Our Gifted and Talented Program
On January 13, 2020, Governor Murphy signed the “Strengthening Gifted and Talented Education Act,” which outlines how New Jersey school districts should educate gifted and talented students. The act defines a gifted and talented student as someone who shows a high level of ability in one or more subjects compared to their peers and requires special modifications to their educational program to reach their full potential.
An instructional adaptation is an adjustment that enables a gifted and talented student to learn and demonstrate knowledge beyond their grade level, aligning with their individual capabilities.
Program Overview
Our program serves identified students from Grades K through 12. Students who qualify for the program will participate in weekly pull-out sessions with our district's gifted and talented teacher. These sessions are designed to encourage and challenge students in their specific areas of strength. The lessons are a supplement to, not a replacement for, the regular instructional program.
If your child qualifies, you will be notified via email. Students in the program are expected to maintain strong academics and positive behavior. Participation is optional; you can choose to opt out at any time.
