Dear Graduates and Families, We are excited to announce that we are anticipating holding our graduation ceremony outdoors on the CGHS Stadium Field. As we approach the ceremony, we are closely monitoring the possibility of pop-up storms later in the day. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. Should adverse weather conditions arise, we have contingency plans in place. This may involve a delay in the start time or a shift to an indoor ceremony. We commit to keeping you informed. Please monitor your devices, as all communication regarding updates will be sent via email and text. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Warmly, The CGHS Administration

Congratulations Alina! Alina's art was selected to be showcased in the South Orange Performing Arts Center's Inspired Minds Exhibitions.

Here is a little about the piece from Alina's perspective: For this painting I was going in with the inspiration of Stan Lee to make a comic college of all the Marvel Superheroes. I decided to go with Spider-Man because the detail in his costume has the perfect squares for my college style. The background is inspired by Piet Mondrian, with bold colors also a reference to comic art. The college part is made out of old comics and new comic posters of the whole Marvel Universe, going with my original plan of incorporating all of them in there.

Nicolas Giovannelli, AKA “Nicky” demonstrates the true essence of the definition of a “hero” by his numerous contributions to the community and by putting others’ needs above his own. In addition to his community contributions, Nicky has challenged himself with a vigorous academic schedule which includes several honors level and specialized elective courses. Nicky has also earned memberships in the National and Science Honor Societies and our Gifted and Accelerated Program. Nicky worked at Cedar Grove High School, for the past few summers, as a custodial helper and assisted with preparing the grounds for the upcoming school year. Nicky participated in activities such as moving furniture, making repairs, and ensuring the cleanliness of the facility. All of Nicky’s interactions with the staff have been demonstrated to be positive, respectful, and extremely helpful. Nicky is involved in various community service, volunteering, and work experiences as the student is a junior firefighter in the Cedar Grove Fire Department, an EMT and Recruitment Committee member in the Cedar Grove Ambulance and Rescue Squad, and participates in our school work-study program as a senior where he volunteers as a Montclair Ambulance Unit intern. What is more, Nicky has expressed interest in fields such as these as part of his post-high school career plans. Throughout all of these volunteer experiences, Nicky expresses that his purpose in life is to help others. Nicky shared that if he can make a difference in at least one life it would be all worth it, especially in helping to protect our youth who are in crisis. Nicky helps to make the world a better place and truly deserves this honorary recognition.
