For the Influential Person Project, sixth-grade students explored the lives and legacies of influential individuals who have made a significant impact on the world. The project involved selecting an influential person to research, reading a biography or autobiography, and completing online research to gather detailed information about the individual’s life, accomplishments, and contributions. Using their research, students then wrote a formal research paper following MLA formatting guidelines, helping them develop academic writing and citation skills. The project culminated in a creative and interactive presentation where students dressed up as their chosen person and participated in a “wax museum” event presenting key facts and stories about their figure and bringing history to life for peers, teachers, and families.
