North End News Update 6-3-25

Dear NE Parents & Guardians,

Happy Tuesday!  Can you even believe that it is JUNE?!?  There are so many things happening over the next few weeks, I thank you in advance for your attention to this and future emails.

On Thursday, June 5th, we will have our rescheduled Field Day!  All students should wear their Field Day t-shirt, sunscreen, and a hat (if they’d like to wear one). They should also bring the following:

  • A water bottle that has been labeled with the child’s name (this can be refilled at water stations throughout the activities).

  • A towel to sit on during lunchtime (many children do not prefer to sit in the grass!).

On Friday, June 6th, the Special Olympics Torch Run will take place.  Interested fourth grade students have been invited to participate, along with local law enforcement agents, as they carry the torch throughout New Jersey, to spark the beginning of the NJ Special Olympics.  The route of this special event travels throughout Essex County and they make a quick detour through our campus so our interested fourth grade students can participate.  Our 4th grade runners will meet the local law enforcement agents (along with the torch, several emergency responders and their vehicles) as they approach our walking path at Lindsley Road.  In the meantime, all remaining students and staff will line our walking path to cheer on the participants, to include 47 fourth graders!!  That’s the largest group of students we have had to participate thus far! All parents and families are welcome to attend, if you would like to do so.  I just ask that you stand behind the cones and allow the children to be in front of you!  The runners are expected to arrive at our walking path at Lindsley Road at approximately 8:45 a.m.  Once the runners have completed this part of the course (down to Stevens Avenue) all of our children will return inside and classes will resume.   Further details about the run can be found at this website: 2025_LETR_School-Flyer NJ Torch Run.pdf

Also on Friday, all current Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:40 in preparation for Kindergarten Orientation for the 2025 - 26 school year!

The June Spirit Days calendar is below for your information.

As always, should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.

Sincerely,
Traci Dyer, NE Principal
