The art room has been a place filled with creativity this fall. Each grade has been exploring new artists, materials, and techniques. Here's a peek at what's been happening.
Our youngest artists, PreK, have been busy cutting, gluing, and assembling fall-themed artworks. They have been learning about apples, pumpkins, scarecrows all while building their fine motor skills.
Inspired by Paul Cezanne, the Kindergarten students have been creating vibrant apple artworks using paint and oil pastels. They have been busy exploring these new materials in order to make their apples come to life.
Our first graders have been exploring the world of Wassily Kandinsky and his abstract art. They experimented with a variety of shapes, lines, and colors, to create some energetic pieces. They also painted over their oil pastel details with watercolor and witnessed a "watercolor resist effect" come to life.
Our second grade artists explored Henri Matisse's bold paper cutouts and his famous "Goldfish" paintings. They practiced their scissor skills while cutting and arranging paper cut out collages similar to those of Matisse. They also studied and replicated the beautiful "Goldfish" painting learning that art comes in all different styles and mediums.
Third graders were inspired by Yayoi Kusama and her love of pumpkins and dots. Using drawing materials like pencils and markers, they filled their own pumpkin drawings with playful polka dots and added vibrant colors to make them pop.
Our oldest artists, our fourth graders, have been learning about the famous Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and his golden "Tree of Life" masterpiece. They have been busy at work drawing, coloring, painting, and collaging their multimedia pieces.
