The art room has been filled with creativity as we move through our district-wide elementary unit focused on the work of Hokusai. Each grade level is exploring this Japanese artist's work and the results have been fantastic.
PreK students are experimenting with paint sticks as they create their own versions of The Great Wave. First Grade is working with paper mosaics and paint to bring the wave to life through texture and color. Second Grade is using a variety of media in order to create pieces inspired by Hokusai’s waterfall prints. Third Grade artists are combining pen and ink with watercolor to create wild dragons, and Fourth Grade is taking on the challenge of painting The Great Wave on canvas.
There’s a lot of energy, curiosity, and creativity flowing through the room along with lots of blue paint. Up next, we’ll be transitioning into our Square 1 Art fundraiser, which students are very excited about.
